Pica d'Estats, the roof of Catalonia
Two days of trekking in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, crowning the highest peak in Catalonia, the Pica d'Estats (3,143m).
About the activity
In 1883, Jacint Verdaguer, during one of his Pyrenean excursions, reached the summit of Pica d'Estats, the highest point in Catalonia. Today, the twin peak of Pica bears his name in his honor, and both stand as witnesses to those who dare to climb above 3,000m.
Pica d'Estats is a symbol of hiking in our country which, despite its altitude, does not present technical difficulties comparable to other giants of the Pyrenees. However, we will need a good dose of energy and strong legs to walk under the high mountain sun for hours and on increasingly uneven terrain with steep, continuous climbs.
On this expedition, you will join a group to achieve this goal fueled by motivation, great vibes and good company, as well as led by a local guide with deep knowledge of the area who will ensure the group's safety by evaluating the route conditions beforehand and during the activity. By splitting the ascent into two days, we will get a good warm-up, a successful acclimatization over 2,000m, and we will discover one of the forgotten valleys, avoiding the overcrowding of the standard route to Pica. Plus, you will live the adventure of spending a night in the high mountains under the starry sky.
